Just do PRP. It's cheaper and works better.

cheaper yes, but what evidence is there that it works better?

I've done a number of PRP epidurals, but never intradiscal. I've always been leary of violating the disc unless absolutely necessary.

Intracept has been nice in that it helps patients without that risk and is quite good for ASC facility revenue.
However, only about 40% of insurances cover intracept in my area and so the question is what to do for the other 60% of patients with significant discogenic pain. Maybe intradiscal PRP is worth considering for them. But how strong is the evidence for benefit and for potential harm?

Anyone know how this will effect HOPD RVU generation or not at all since they’ll eat the cost whether or not it’s covered after performing?

I’ve done a few intradiscal PRP over the years when pt or surgeon requests and when it makes sense younger healthy non smoker etc (charged $1200 so not egregious), got a message from a 27 yo 2 years out pain 6 to 0 back to tennis fwiw, intradiscal gent abx with all them

I think it will be interesting to look at study with one of these allograft products where they’re taking healthy disc from donors and couple it with intracept

Did viadisc get shut down bc lobbiest have money in one of these other companies…?

what do you define as young? under 50? Agree intradiscal gent makes sense. What volumes were you injecting?
