viewing PDF textbooks from iPad/laptop

Hi! I have a collection of PDFs of textbooks that I would love to use but have been getting frustrated with the PDF viewer on my laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations that can make viewing PDF textbooks easier? For example, iPad apps, computer apps, etc?

Notability is an excellent iPad app IMO if you're using an Apple pencil. Makes it super simple to highlight and annotate things.
