What do they mean when viral vaccines are "killed"? The book by Levinson mentions Influenza, Hepatitis A, and Rabies as killed vaccines. Also, is the term attenuated vaccines used only for bacterial vaccines? Anyone know of any attenated vaccines off the top of your head. thanks a bunch for you help. 😍

Live attenuated vaccines- MMR, Sabin Polio, VZV, Yellow fever, smallpox

Killed- rabies, influenza, HAV, and Salk polio

Can you give MMR to an HIV patients? The other live vaccines are considered contraindicated, but don't know about MMR.

Yeah, I read somewhere that they do b/c the risks of contracting measles outweighs the vaccination risk....dang wish I could remember where I saw that. Sorry! (can you tell my exam was like 6 days ago?!?) 😛
