Hey everyone! I am looking into the whole Match brouhaha and saw that there are still some residencies and internships open after this past cycle. If you do not match and are part of the scramble, if you select an open residency or internship that is still open, are you guaranteed that spot if you are the only one going for it, or can the program simply say "nah" and still not take you? Thanks!

You're not guaranteed a spot - you will still have to interview with them and be accepted formally. Programs will definitely still pass on candidates if they do not feel like it would be a good fit, even if they end up unmatched.
