I was really looking forward to volunteering at a hospital this summer, but because of the pandemic, I won't be able to. I've been searching for ways to volunteer while social distancing. I'm really into tutoring virtually but I don't know where to start. Are there specific websites I should go to? I was also looking at volunteering for the Red Cross. I really want to show med schools that I was active during this hard time but I also want to limit social interactions. What do you all suggest?

Crisis text line
Food pantry
Sewing masks for elderly at nursing homes
Donate blood
Look local - churches, nursing centers, etc. Online forums are less likely to have sources for local options. Lots of people could use someone to go get their groceries for the week.

If you search on volunteermatch.org there are a tons of virtual volunteer opportunities, especially those related to COVID-19. I've seen everything from research opportunities to tutoring refugees virtually. There are plenty of ways to help out without having to make actual contact!

*Edit: I forgot to mention I've even seen opportunities for social/media marketing for the Red Cross if you have any experience in that field.
