Anyone know if USMLE OR COMLEX test on the details of which virus's are double stranded vs. single stranded, segmented vs. non-seg.,Enveloped vs not, ect.? I got a question on it last night in UW and I really dont want to memorize it unless I have to.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

great question. we took a mock board at our school and nealy every viral related question either was using these as your identify tip or they gave you a scenerio and the answers were ssRNA/neg-pos/dsDNA............

such a painhb

I just got a question like that on UW too..and got it wrong, argh! But I think it does seem like a reasonable (although annoying) type of question since how the virus replicates its genome, etc, applies the prevention (alcohol based hand sanitizers might work on enveloped viruses, but not non-enveloped), pathology and treatment of the disease.
