Hi everyone,

I would like to know what visa category does an foreign applicant accepted for GPR or AEGD usually fall under.

Thanks for any info!🙂

I think -F1, but i remember at one school's web site-h1b[I think if you are paid a salary], but don't remember for sure.

if you are getting paid its J-1 mostly and sometimes H-1, if not F-1

i think they ask us to use our opt....

Thanks everyone for the responses🙂.

I was kinda curious since most GPR and AEGD pay stipends to residents, so that makes the programs closer in nature to employment, so H1B sounds like a more appropriate visa category. But I just wonder how many programs are actually willing to sponsor H1B visas since the process will create so much hassle for the programs compared to a F1 visa, the burden of which falls mostly on the applicants themselves.

None of the program will sponsor H1-B. You should get it by yourself which is very difficult.

if you are already on f1 then you will be fine, even if the stipend is paid, you can use opt.
