If you have visited a pharmacy schools that you were interested, did you find the advice given by the advisors useful? I am trying to decide if I should visit this rolling school and talk with an advisor. It seems much of the advice offered here is all you need but I am just curious to know what other people's opinion was on this topic.

I visited UT on a school organized trip. There was about 10 of us that all went together and one of the UT admissions advisors met with us and gave us all a special packet with info on getting into the school that you were interested in. I thought that was really helpful. We could also ask questions but it was more geared towards those that wanted to finish their undergraduate at UT (I go to a 2 year cc). They fed us lunch and then in the afternoon we were free to visit the school we were interested in, or basically just do whatever you want. I went straight to the pharmacy building and met with the pharmacy admissions advisor even though I didn't have an appointment. He was super nice and gave me some useful information about getting in, like exactly which pre-reqs I needed. The whole experience really sealed the deal for me... everyone was so nice and helpful that I decided that I didn't want to go anywhere else but UT. And I got in, so the advice they gave me must have helped.

Well, the USP advisor sold me the school and told me that it was the right place to achieve what I wanted to achieve with a PharmD, while the Pitt pharmacy advisor told me that pharmacy wasn't a good choice for me. Who was right? Only time will tell.

Advisors can be good. They can also be overly-positive about the school, so be wary of that.

If possible, I'd find a student not affiliated with the admissions crew to show you around. Those affiliated students have some degree of PC comments. Get someone who is more objective.😉

For example, come down to Creighton and I'll give you a dose of reality!😀

If you can find someone who is aware of the admissions process and where the ADCOMs place the most weight, it may be worth it. Otherwise just about anyone can tell you about the school. I know at USC they try to get the Pharm students to do the school tour while admissions do the Q/A sessions after the tour on the info days that are setup.
