Visiting campus before applying?

Hi everybody,

I am applying this year. I am wondering how often dental schools offer campus tours. Is is a must to visit the school? Could we search and visit the school website instead? But if we want to visit the school, can we just go individually?

If any of you have the information, please let me know.

if i were you i would wait and see which schools you get an interview at. then if you feel like you want another look set up a tour date and go back and visit the school and ask students questions. you'll save money this way

Answer: You can call and set one up as long as they're not busy.

Is is a must to visit the school?

Answer: No, not on your own, although almost all schools require interviews, most being on the campus, a few being regionally based.

Could we search and visit the school website instead?

Answer: Yes, as far as choosing a school to apply to.

But if we want to visit the school, can we just go individually?

Answer: Yes, I was in vacation in Boston the year before I applied, I called Tufts and they took me on an individual tour. It was cool but it's not really necessary.

i didnt visit the schools until my interviews. if you are in the area and call the admissions office, im sure they could set something up for you to see the school, even if your tour was self-guided. i don't think its worth traveling to though. like someone else said, you might as well wait to see where you get interviews.

And you are right, visiting all the schools that we are applying to will be painful.
But I'll try to visit the nearest one when i have a chance.
