Hi All,

I'm new to the med student world and considering visiting student opportunities to take electives at other institutions. I would like to learn more about how it works in terms of:
(a) competitiveness--Do you have to meet some kind of competitive criteria, or is it pretty likely that any average 4th year student who wants to can do it?
(b) cost--Are you paying their cost on top of your own med school's cost? Is there a way to deduct that from what you're paying at the home institution, since you won't be there?

Thanks kindly.

...also, it seems that schools offer electives that I'm not seeing show up when I browse the AAMC's VSAS website. What's up with that? Would be nice if I didn't have to visit each school's website individually to do my initial browsing :)
