What's the correct visual acuity exam for patients with monovision?

Actually - I see you are describing monovision (and not a monocular patient).

Technically, you would still need a balance since you have to do a proper refraction before you apply the monovision Rx.

I'd get them to do a binocular VA at distance, and a binocular VA at near, and hope both are satisfactory.
