Hey guys, I'm a first year med student and I would really appreciate any tips or advice.

I failed the first course on GI because of a lack of studying (distraction by a broken engagement and family illness) but then I studied A LOT for for the current courses (MSK and epidemiology.) Just finished the midterms and I am barely scraping by a pass and it will come down to the final. I'm REALLY frustrated now that despite studying so much, I'm not able to perform on the exams. I didn't have any problems in undergrad, but back then, I had time to reread all my notes/textbooks 4-5 times. Obviously, I am worried too since I'm on academic probation now. My school uses does a traditional powerpoint lecture that is recorded on podcasts and as a visual learner, I don't feel like I'm absorbing that much from lecture or reviewing podcasts. Yet, we were not given specific textbooks.

On that note, can anybody tell me
- what am I doing wrong?
- How can i more effectively study as a visual learner
- what good textbooks are out there for musculoskeletal system? (not anatomy but general bones/ortho/derm/rheum etc)

I"M SO FRUSTRATED....Thanks so much!!

I have the same problem and i need some advice as well. 🙁
