Is anyone still going to email Shelby tomorrow for waitlist update?Just got an email the class is full 🙁
I think I will just to see if its worth staying on the waitlist, otherwise I'll fully commit to the school I already acceptedIs anyone still going to email Shelby tomorrow for waitlist update?
Why remove yourself from the list? There's always a chance you could be called off.Still number 9. Md list only accepted 4 spots total. I will probably remove myself from the list. I really wanted IS tuition! Oh well 🙁
Maybe. I was accepted to Oregon State. If I get called off and I've already moved across the country, then the answer would be a definite no.Why remove yourself from the list? There's always a chance you could be called off.
Someone a few years above me got called off the week of orientation. Stressful? Absolutely. Worth saving six-figures worth of student debt to change last minute? Definitely. 😉
Even for $100,000 worth of debt? I feel like I'd be on the next plane back, lol.Maybe. I was accepted to Oregon State. If I get called off and I've already moved across the country, then the answer would be a definite no.
You definitely make great points, I guess it depends on how feasible it is to move again at the time and the consequences of breaking a lease 🤷♂️. I know nothing about renting lol.Even for $100,000 worth of debt? I feel like I'd be on the next plane back, lol.
As a native Oregonian, I feel like I should be supportive of you going Oregon State though (West Coat, best coast!)
Yeah, it could be expensive to come back which may factor in to the decision... You can crunch the numbers when the time comes (or just reduce the stress and take yourself off the list so you never have to think about it haha)You definitely make great points, I guess it depends on how feasible it is to move again at the time and the consequences of breaking a lease 🤷♂️. When was the last you asked?I’m just going to stay on the list, when I asked last I was still 12. I figure my chances are still low, but you never know.
I asked last Friday and heard back Monday, I did send an email this morning to see if there’s been any changes to the IS-VA listWhen was the last you asked?
To my understanding the class is full...Anyone hear any updates?
Yes it is full! I should’ve been more specific lol any updates on waitlist placement for those who checkedTo my understanding the class is full...
You should have gotten an email?
(Although maybe that was just for one list, idk)
The waitlist can still move yet despite the class being full. People could get accepted elsewhere and just throw away their deposit at VMCVM. No harm in asking about updates. 🙂To my understanding the class is full...

Yes, exactly! I don’t want people to lose hope, anything can happen! The waitlist can still move yet despite the class being full. People could get accepted elsewhere and just throw away their deposit at VMCVM. No harm in asking about updates. 🙂
I am aware of that and never said there was a harm in it. It wasn't clear from previous post that they were aware the class was currently considered full and seemed like they were asking about how much the waitlist is currently moving. Things will be very static for the next several months, but two or three people will probably get pulled from it by the end of the summer. People have been accepted as late as the week of orientation so there's always hope until the day classes start. The waitlist can still move yet despite the class being full. I have a question, I got in on the OOS acceptance but I live in Maryland. They said if I do not accept I would have to go back on the waitlist. I am wondering if I can get in state tuition the following year? Any help would be appreciated.Best of luck to you!! I'm a current second year (still feels crazy to say that!), feel free to ask any questions!
That's a really good question, I honestly haven't even heard of that happening! My best advice would be to try emailing academic affairs to see if they can give you some more information. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you!I have a question, I got in on the OOS acceptance but I live in Maryland. They said if I do not accept I would have to go back on the waitlist. Can confirm. I’m OOS and I had to sign thing acknowledging that I am well aware that I am considered a non-resident for tuition purposes for the entire 4 years. You should ask the admissions team, they will be straight up with you.
I would guess that it is not likely because they will probably make you sign something that says you acknowledge you will be OOS all 4 years.
The few people who managed to swing IS after admission married VA or MD residents during vet school so... it's technically possible to switch to IS. But you have to petition and I don't know that you would be successful. Maybe if a MD student failed out and there was an "open" IS seat 2nd year? Maybe there's some legal loophole you could sneak in?
But I’m confused ... you applied as a Maryland resident and are on the Maryland waitlist but they pulled you for an OOS spot? I wasn’t aware that was a thing. And you’re sure it’s not a mistake?I have a question, I got in on the OOS acceptance but I live in Maryland. They said if I do not accept I would have to go back on the waitlist. Last I looked I was still number 12 for IS-VA and that was awhile ago. I kinda figured it wasn’t gonna happen, so I’ve started the application again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯How are my ISers hanging in there?🙃
I actually made a mistake and did not file the instate form. They said because I am under 24 years of age they go by where my parents live and not where I have been living for the last 3 years. I am not dependent on my parents, filed Maryland taxes, have a Maryland driver's license and a Maryland address but it does not matter if you are under 24 years of age. Looks like I will not be getting IS tuition. Can confirm. I made a mistake and did not file the Maryland resident paperwork when applying. I was then told I would have to go back on the waitlist for IS and will probably not get in. They said also they go by where your parents live even if you have not lived with them for 3 years. I have had my own place in Maryland for 3 years and have a Maryland driver's license and file Maryland tax returns but if you are under 24 years of age it does not matter. Next year I will be 24 and was wondering if then I would be able to change to in state but sounds like I am stuck with out of state. Thanks for the help. Can confirm. Animal science and animal nutrition aren’t required prereqs for VMCVM (unless I’m missing something?).Hey everyone! I didn't apply to VMCVM before, but I was considering it for the next cycle. My undergrad school didn't offer animal science or animal nutrition courses. I found a school with a decently affordable animal science class, but they don't have an animal nutrition class. Does anyone know f any decently priced places I could take an animal nutrition course? I'm from PA, so unless it's a school here, I'll be paying out of state tuition. Thanks in advance!!!
I was definitely doing a medical terminology. Must be getting myself confused on who wants what 😂 sorry! But if anyone knows other recommendations!!Those aren't required courses for VMCVM.
A lot of people take the nutrition course through OK state though if you want it for other schools.
Medical terminology is required now (wasn't when I applied). I think there are a few places online that offer it, but classes under me would be a better bet for telling you where.
PA residency is rough but my PA classmate told me OOS at VMCVM was still cheaper for him than Penn so...
VMCVM accepts community college medical terminology courses, so check if the schools you're applying to accept those as well. Sometimes medical terminology classes aren't offered at 4 year universities (weren't at my undergrad at least).I was definitely doing a medical terminology. I found a course at UCSD! I’m just trying to take some extra classes because this will be my third cycle applying. Interviews at 1 school and rejected the first time. Interviewed at 1 school and waitlisted the second time but that doesn’t seem to be moving and they won’t tell us our rankings so I’ve taken it upon myself to start taking extra classes to help my 3rd time applicationVMCVM accepts community college medical terminology courses, so check if the schools you're applying to accept those as well. There isn't one for lecture classes. Safety related for labs (pants, closed toe shoes, lab coat)Current students, what's the school's dress code like? I can't seem to find it in any of the handbooks online.
