Just letting yall know that you can "preorder" the 2012 VMSAR from amazon $15.48 with free 2 shipping from Amazon Prime. Mine is scheduled to be delivered by April 19. The book is $21.95+tax+shipping if you buy it from the publisher. Here's the amazon link.

And for some crazy reason if you don't have amazon prime and your either a student or mom then sign up here and enjoy free 2 day shipping with really great prices! 😀

Oh, and for those that dont prefer a real book over a pdf, you can order it for $10.99, here.

As a word of advice for those wondering if the expense is really worth it, I would look at an old one (any year) first if possible to see if you feel that it will really be helpful.
I personally didnt buy it because I spent lots of time doing my research, and just printed lots of pages off of vet school websites. Personally felt like the book was lacking a little which is why I ultimately didnt buy it (don't remember what i thought it was lacking in though).

I just wanted to put out there that I found VMSAR really useful. It has the majority of the information that you need for each school in one convenient place. Need to call a school? Their # is in VMSAR. OOS acceptance rate? It's in there too. Required classes? Yup, it has that too.

I think it was absolutely worth the money. In fact, I probably would have paid more for it if I had had to. It made my life so much easier when I was doing applications. Instead of having to independently research each school, I was able to use my time to fill out applications since everything for each school was right there.

Maybe someone will sell their 2011 edition, even just for the cost of shipping? There is a small risk that something may be out of date, but most of the info will not change much at all.

I LOVED my VMSAR. I marked it up and turned corners and wrote pros and cons in the margins. It was great. I can't share mine because it's in tatters. 🙂 I thought it was great, obviously! 🙂

I, on the other hand, didn't even know it existed. 🙂

It sounds to me like it's most useful for people applying to a bunch of different schools, as opposed to one or two?

i'll throw out there that i used all of the charts aavmc used to have on their website which were SUPER helpful. i'm bummed they took them down (probably to promote sales), not so much because i need them, but because they were such an excellent resource for students.

Does anyone else find the new aavmc and vmcas website to be extremely confusing and unhelpful? I cannot seem to find any information I want/need. BOOOO. So against this change 🙁

I miss all the charts and documents on the old site.

Yep! It's fantastic for comparisons across the different vet schools. If you're only applying to your IS + 1, then it's probably unnecessary. Not too expensive though and I definitely prefer getting offline occasionally .

Yes! I was very unhappy to discover that. I plan on sending them a message at some point (when i'm not studying for biochem, neurochem, or analytical chem haha)

My 2010 and 2006 (I think? Somewhere around there.) ones are up for grabs! Shipping donations welcome but not necessary. PM me if interested (I liked having the older and newer versions for comparison's sake)

How early should you purchase the book? I don't expect to apply until end of next year or 2013. Would it help to invest in it now?

So I ordered the PDF version online this morning. And received a confirmation that it's being shipped to my home address.

I'm thinking someone's not clear on the whole "internet" concept.
