Hi everyone,

I have been doingvolunteering hours at a pharmacy and I have over 150 hours, I have beenthinking on stop doing the hours. How many hours are good for Nova?

Im also applying to nova & i dont think any volunteering is required its just a personal choice how many hours you do

One hundred and fifty hours is good enough imo. You get a completion certificate in hospital after 100 hours. I would say you have done more then enough. Not sure about Nova, but this is sufficient for UF.

Hi, thanks for your help, but I think a Lor from a pharmacist would look good on the app and the only way, I think, it is volunteering or working as a technician.

Thanks Felix, I think I would concentrate even more on the on coming Pcat on July and stop the hours. Btw, do you know if I can have two lors from two different pharmacists?

I believe they prefer you have one from a pharmacist and one from a professor. Even so, you can still have two LORs from two pharmacists. The whole point of LORs are to get people to who can speak well about you and describe your strengths as to why you would be a great applicant to the program. If you want more detailed info, you can always check Novas PharmCAS page.

what would a prepharmacy student volunteering at a pharmacy be doing? i don't even know.

i've never worked or volunteered at a pharmacy before.

Pretty much restocking drugs, filing prescription orders away, witnessing pharmacist give injections to patients, observe how the pharmacist and his/her technicians interact etc etc.

Oh and checking the expiration date of every single pill bottle in the pharmacy (I kid you not). 😱

Don't limit yourself, why stop there? Keep going. The more you work/volunteer, the more you learn about the profession.

Trying to figure out a minimum number of hours needed to suffice for admissions shows a lack of dedication on your part. Please don't take this as an insult, just advice👍
