Hello, I applied for a scribe position for a nearby clinic and was asked to come in for an interview. This is going to be my first volunteer so I am a bit nervous.

What exactly do scribes do? Is it a good volunteer experience?

Also, The interview place they gave me is a cafe 20 miles away from I live. Is this a bit too much considering the clinic I asked to work at is like a 5 min drive from my home? Would it be rude to ask for a place a bit closer or should I just go?

They asked for me to bring a resume but besides working at minimum wage jobs, I don't have anything on there. What should I expect from the interview?

I mean most scribes get paid. Do you have a hospital near you? Hospitals will pay you. Working for a free as a scribe is a friggen ripoff.

I applied for hospital volunteer work but they will get back to me in a few months. But if I get paid I wouldn't be able to put it down as volunteer work on my resume.
