Volunteerand shadowing hours

What's a good number? I have roughly 200 Volunteering hours, close to 50 shadowing hours. I don't understand why schools recommend 100 or more shadowing hours there is only so much to learn whilst shadowing. Also have probably more than 1000 hours of working.

How many hours should I aim for regarding shadowing and volunteering? I can probably bump it up to 250 hours maximum for volunteering.

While I agree with you, about 100 for shadowing is highly recommended. Volunteering can vary considerably. I personally had over 1,500 volunteer hours over the span of college due to being in hospitals, clubs, abroad trips, etc. I don't think many people at all have near that amount.

Some schools require at least 100 shadowing hours. Call the schools you are interested in.
