Hi I've been volunteering with this nonprofit called Angels for Sight and wanted to let you guys know about some health fairs coming up where they need volunteers to take visual acuities and registration. The health fairs are geared for children and all volunteers get lunch too.
This one is last minute notice but if anyone is free, I'm sure they would love your help!
May 20th - 15th Annual Los Angeles Malcolm X Arts, Cultures & Education Festival -- 12:00 - 7:00pm - Audubon Middle School - 4120 11th Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90008
June 2 - Douglas Park Avenue in collaboration with Dollar Hide Senior Center, Drew Head Start, SPA 6 Children's Planning Council and Prototypes 2nd Annual Health Fair - 10:00 - 400pm - Courtyard and Parking Lot of Douglas Park Housing Complex located at 1108 North Culver Avenue, Compton CA 902222 (corner of Rosecrans and Culver, 1 block west of Willowbrook)
June 16 - Juneteenth Health Fair - Information is the Key - 9:00 - 3:00pm - South Park Recreation Center 345 East 51st Street Los Angeles, CA 90011
They also just opened a newly renovated eye care clinic in Compton and are always glad to have volunteers come in and help out at the office and assist with creating lens, dispensing, etc. I've been volunteering with them for the past few years and it's been a great opportunity, the people are friendly, fun and really passionate about giving back to the community. I actually heard about this organization from someone's post on SDN. You can also put them on your opt applications as volunteer experience and probably get a letter of recommendation.
If you're interested in volunteering, please message me or contact Sharon, the outreach coordinator, by calling the office or emailing her at [email protected].
