Hey Guys, I am going to the US during summer and I know some people that are doctors. So I was wondering if it would be a good idea to shadow them or ask for volunteer work etc because I would like to apply for meds school after my 3rd year? Would med schools still accept letter of recommendation even though they would be from second year summer?
And if i do shadow/volunteer, how would I go about doing that? Also, what would i be doing as a shadow? Should I talk to them when their not busy? Be their shadow? I don't really know?

Thanks so much! Sorry, I'm kinda clueless about this and don't really have anyone to ask.

Also I would appreciate if people know of any place that are available during summer in canada as well... Thanks

all I can tell you is don't worry if you cant. shadowing isn't important in Canada at all. Mainly because its pretty much against laws here so that vast majority of peolpe don't do it

I'm asking because I can, but is it worth it if I do? If not, I can always ask those doctors if they have volunteer positions instead.

yeah thats what I'm saying. This forum is all for shadowing, but canadain med schools really don't care. Volunteering is much more valued because you're actually doing something-rather than watching. I think shadowing just for a med app is a massive time waste for canada, but I mean if you're doing it for personal reasons and it's easy to set up that's different. But med schools don't care here if that's what your asking
