Volunteering

I'm a pre-dent at in Michigan (not that that's important). How do you go about getting a volunteering potion at a hospital? I assume you just walk up to the front desk, introduce yourself and ask about it?

Also, what other types of volunteering do you guys suggest? Currently I am working at a soup kitchen, cleaning up my local river once a week, and planting trees in poor neiborhoods on Saturdays.

One last point, I only started doing volunteer work at end of my sophmore year. Is that bad?

You can go on the hospital's website. They normally have a section for volunteers. You can apply there and they will tell you what to do next.
I don't think it matters that you started volunteering on your sophomore year, as long as you get good hours and it seems like you are doing community service in different areas. That is always good.
