Hi!
I'm a post-bacc and for a while i was working while trying to jam in as many classes as i possibly could (on top of tutoring, eating, sleeping, watching LOST and whatnot) --- and i don't know how many hours i've put in dental environments, but my appoach is that during every break i made volunteering a priority. one summer i did with a general dentist in a predom. spanish-speaking neighborhood (and learned a helluvalot abt patiant care), the next summer i spent in a hospital dental clinic, where everyday they had a different specialty, all kinds of docs were around and i pumped the residents for as much info as possible about schools and stuff. This past winter break i hung around a periodontist who does a ton of implants.
The important thing is that each time I LEARNT something new amazing and exciting about the field, and the nitty gritty work.
I think that speaking about your experience during the interview is much more important than # of hours.
So... ask questions!!! and try to tie the answers in to the things your studying, it'll help you remember better.
Plus, so many of the dentists i've worked with are so into their work that their just fountains of information. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM!!! 😀
good luck buddy!
