I literally hated angle ranking so much; everything else was a piece of cake for me haha, I'm right there with ya

Hey Glimmer, at first, this section took more a lot of time to finish 15 questions. It took me 30 mins for 15 questions. But It is getting better.
To me, Angle Discrimination is the hardest one. Don't you think?

I am really surprised that almost no one else chose pattern folding. A lot of the practice tests weren't that bad, but the patterns on the actual DAT were absolutely insane! Hardest section by far for me.

Pattern folding by a long shot. Absolutely hate it. Angle ranking is all about not getting too focused on the angles but being able to scan them quickly and notice relations between them. If you try and analyze one up close then compare it to another then it's brutal.

Wow, my PAT's Pattern Folding were a joke... I guess I lucked out!

I cant stand angles I can get a perfect run with hole punches and cube counting. the others are alright but they take too much time I usually skip through angles get eveything else done and run through angles quick with the left time. My DAT is coming up next thursday. just wanna get over it already lol

I'm just gunna share this here with everyone cuz I don't want to make a new post on this.

What worked for me on angle ranking (luckily discovered literally two days before the actual test) was by treating each angle like a tetherball post and then compare where the "ball" would be relative to the actual pole itself. For some reason this worked miraculously for me haha. I've tried literally every methods out there and none worked. I hope someone would find this technique helpful as well 🙂

I found TFE challenging but I enjoyed that section. I'd probably say angle ranking mostly because half the time it was based on luck deciding between 2 and 3.

I actually vote for *~*~*~*~*~*~*all of the sections on my DAT*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~.

Well, except cube counting. 😀

After taking Bootcamp test 4 just now, I'll say that I struggle the most still with TFE and angle ranking. And apparently I'm fairly decent at Hole punch, cube counting, and pattern folding (none less than 12/15). Keyhole is really hit or miss for me.

I really want to advocate for the rapid glance angle ranking method. It takes some getting used to, but after about a week of doing 15-30 angles a day, I can get 14/15 consistently in ~4 minutes. The trick is to never second guess yourself and to never over analyze any one angle. All of the other methods are either too time consuming or just seem bizarre (laptop, hill, tether ball pole, skate board ramp) but to each his own I guess.

Yea!! Those "rocks" with a bajillion faces...wth?! And the images aren't very crisp/clear so it was even harder to see it's shape properly.

Yea, some of the shapes had a lot of faces/sides, making it look like rocks. It was rather strange...I had about 3 key hole questions that I spent about 5 mins on (I had time at the end to come back to them) and could NOT figure them out! >.<

Usually, I would be able to eliminate a few answer choices so depending on the ones I couldn't eliminate, I'd just make my best guess and move on. So no default answer on the PAT for me...

Keyholes... Especially when the answer is none of the special faces and it's the rectangle that seems too obvious.

Keyholes with their magical ability to transfigure into rectangles or to enlarge their ungrateful holes whenever they feel like it...
TFE's with their hidden Chamber of Secrets only few chosen ones can locate...
Angle Discriminations with their abusive intake of Polyjuice Potion.. All look the f**ing same...
Pattern Foldings with their faces moving around the structure like the people in the portraits in Hogwarts...
Hole Punching and Cube counting are probably the only two sections a lowly Muggle like myself can dare to attempt...

I'm gonna be completely honest, I THOUGHT I had angles and hole punching down PAT (hehe get it) but on the real exam.....angles were insane and the hole punching section had so many 1/3 folds I was freaking myself out because I had only a couple problems I practiced with that type of question. Keyholes had VERY irregular shapes so make sure you find a good practice material with shapes that are not so ideal. On the real thing in order of most to least difficult was probably Angles, keyholes, hole punching, pattern fold, TFE, and cube counting.
