*Soft tissue includes head and neck, oral-maxillofacial and bone pathology.

CRAP, I forgot Endocrine. If your favorite area is adrenal, thyroid, pituitary select soft tissue as well (waste bucket category).

And im deffo not confused about my sexuality......

Who the hell is picking Neuropath?

Reminds me of quote from the classic PCU:
Whats you major?
Sanskrit.
Sanskrit?! Youre majoring in a 5,000-year old dead language? Ok, heres Latin, best I can do.

typical

to the uninitiated heme seems really cool, perhaps evn the area with the most clinical interaction.

but the uninitiated will soon learn 👎 :scared:

i picked hemepath, but i'm still really liking GI/liver.

Bb/tm Rulz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhh Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF are you talking about? I picked heme, heme IS cool. Heme combines traditional wet(aspirates and fluids) and dry(LNs and trephines) morphology, immunohistochemistry, molecular/cytogenetics, automated laboratory analysis, flow cytometry, EM (rarely), clinical skillz and kung fu. WTH other field of medicine has all that?

A good hematopathologist is the TRUE MASTER of the art of pathology. No one comes close.

If I could choose any 5 people to start a lab with, it would be me and 4 other well trained hematopathologists.

But LaDOCC

I thought you HATED research and all.......I love hemepath/molecular diagnostics/Immunopath for the reason that so much innovation is being driven by research in the field. And i think it is just going to get better......

I'm just saying that if you ask people BEFORE they start pathology training that almost 100% will say hemepath is cool.

AFTER training that number will be closer to 10%.

what is the market for outpt hemepath?

Nobody for soft tissue or derm?? Must've been scared off by the general anti-derm atmosphere of this forum 🙂

Derm is good if you truly love skin, but the logistics of it are completely inane. The whole situation was created by pain in the ass dermatologists.

99.99% of skin cases do not require a fellowship trained person

Don't do it - I did that in med school during my PSF and before I knew it she was buying me many gifts and was attached to my hip.

I pick GI right now. IBD and such. Head and neck though is also intriguing.

If I was to be a pathologist...Gastrointestinal and Liver.

actually, basic science research into human sexuality would be really, really cool; somewhere between neuropath and psychiatry.

Movie trivia: Name the movie where this quote comes from...

"My daddy is a gynecologist. He looks at vaginas all day long."

sounds like the gross room for a 1st year resident

Wow - i don't know who would ever vote for breast pathology. It is at times interesting, but most of the time it is a never ending battle with clinicians over margin status, receptor status, etc.

I hope one day I'll have the responsibility of having to tell the difference between ADH and DCIS.

Dare to dream, my friend.

GU path is the most interesting to me, but i'll probably end up doing heme to get me a job.

Interesting we had a vote for laboratory heme, coags and hemostasis. A niche area fo sure but cool.
