On my practice AAMCs, I scored 9 and 10 on all 8 VR. On the real one I got a freaking 6!!

So basically, I don't have AAMC material, I had gone through EK before the real one. Now I just don't know what to do?? I'm happy with my ps, bs scores. I've signed up for august 24 mcat, so what should I do now?

God damn June 17 2 pm VR!!

e.x.a.c.t. same boat as you. any suggestions would be great!

i was also scoring ~10's on AAMC's and EK verbal (which i now have completed both...!) and took the June 17th pm and received a 6 on verbal. Also retaking.

What to do...

same thing happened to me. I was getting between 8-11 on all EK and AAMC verbals but ended up getting a 6 on the real thing. Maybe it was just the exam for June 17th...

Yeah I signed up again...dude the 1st passage on the test was a killer...something about 2 congressman fighting about stuff I don't care about!!! the mf'ing vr was a killer...the thing that is bothering me the most is that i didn't feel as bad as i did on some of the practice ones and still ended up with 9-10 on practice. A freakin' 6 is a nightmare!

But the bigger question is what do i need to practice verbal again...i think i've exhausted all my resources

Each passage in the actual AAMC VR is about 1-2 paragraphs longer, you probably need to work on your timing.

I took the MCAT July 16th. I had been averaging a 6 on verbal on my practice tests, does this mean I'm going to get a 9 or 10 on the real thing. Jk

I haven't taken the MCAT yet but I keep hearing the same thing, and verbal is my weakest section. Worst, I wasnt even getting 10's-11 on the practice exams like you guys. My instructor at TPR recommended getting other verbal prep material for verbal sections on the LSAT, DAT, GRE. He said there all good practice even though some will differ from the MCAT. I am considering this since ive done almost all of EK and the TPR verbal workbook. Goodluck guys

I completely feel for you man. That was EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me, and a lot of other people it sounds. Unfortunately VR has a lot of variation and you can never truly be ready for what you will see on test day. If you are looking for more material, I would recommend TBR's full length exams, which have in my opinion pretty strong VR sections. This is because their passage selection is spot on--very random topics and extremely lengthy. I thought this helped me when I was preparing to take the exam a second time. I have yet to see how it affected my scores, but it surely improved my confidence.

Maybe for the books, yeah, but the full-lengths are activated electronically so that means you only have to wait for your order to get out there, rather than out there AND back to your house. I think if you order full lengths soon you will have more than enough time to make use of them. I actually didn't get going on the TBR full lengths until a week and a half or so before my real test, just to get reacquainted with the timing again.

yeah, TBR full lengths seemed a lot more like the REAL mcat than even the AAMC tests to me.
