Hi, I was wondering what the lewis structures for nitrogen dioxide No2 and chlorine dioxide clo2 are? I keep on drawing structures with a formal charge.

NO2 is a radical... O-N-O with one electron on N
ClO2 if I'm not mistaken... Cl is less electronegative then O so it should be in the center and look like: Cl-Cl-O with 2 lone pairs of electrons on the middle Cl....

Valence eletrons = 19
Chlorine attaches to the oxygens through double bonds, and and each oxygen has two lone pairs to complete its octet. The chlorine also one lone pair and one electron. Chlorine in this structure obviously doesnot obeys octet rule but in chlorine there is 3d subshell in which electrons are promoted and hence chlorine can also have 3,5 and 7 bonds.
