So I am thinking about dropping a course I am taking that I do not need to graduate because it looks like I bombed a test (currently have an A but I didn’t finish even half of the second exam, got 3 hrs of sleep and I had 1 min left when I looked up). I already have one acceptance and am waiting on decisions from other places. How would a W look this semester and is it enough to rescind an acceptance? The highest I can get in this class is a B now and that’s if I ace everything else in this course which is going to be a burden on my mental and physical health and probably my other classes. This would be my first W. I know this sounds overly neurotic but I don’t wanna throw away my success this cycle over one stupid mistake of not filling in some bubbles. Thanks everyone.

What is with this paranoid fear of Ws on SDN?????
Uninformed academic advisors/professors on the reality of medical admissions. If I had known how lax it was, I wouldve taken the W in a class during a rough time.

It's also midterm season for universities where students are realizing they may not be performing well in a course to the point its unsalvageable.

I'm pretty sure a medical school won't take away your seat because you dropped a class post-acceptance. Students typically do this.

I had a W on my transcript from my senior year before even applying, in a course I dropped because I didn't need it to graduate and wanted to focus on other things, and it hasn't been an issue! Getting interviews, got an acceptance. Don't worry about it!

How about getting all C's for the remaining classes of a bachelors post acceptance? Any risk of getting the offer rescinded when the school receives final transcript?

A few schools have requirements for C+/B as minimum. Others have verbiage in their acceptance agreements of continued academic performance or similar. This info may be found on the school's website or in the student handbook. An aside, most applicants do not realize that the moment you apply a school, you fall under the rules of the student handbook and/or formal policy of the school.
Thanks for the reply! I'll read through the schools website and handbook.
