Basically I poured my heart out into this 5 credit Biology class (which is a science course but not a pre-req) and I'm not doing too well. In fact, I'm probably going to get a 1.5 to a 1.7 in the course which is just devestating especially since I find the subject matter so interesting. The teacher is great and I studied two weeks before our test averaging maybe 3-4 hours a night doing every practice problem and breezing through it but the way the class is set up, unfortunately, means our midterm sets the pace for our final grade which I didn't do too well on.

My questions is: should I drop the class and go for the W or should I try and get my grade up to what now looks like a 2.0 at best? I will be keeping my other class (which means that I will only have taken 5cred this quarter) and I've only dropped once before this (which was the entire summer quarter BEFORE classes even started and it hasn't been mentioned at any of my interviews so far). My primary concern is about which will look better to dental school Adcomms and I have until this Friday to decide before the option of dropping is no more. PLEASE HELP!

well i had a family issue and dropped a course in 8th week during 10 week quarter. Also I have another W from my 2nd yr. So far during my interviews no on asked me why i have that W or asked me to explain my situation. so i think id take the W.

Do you have any other Ws? I think it might be best to get a W if you don't have any so far. That D will bomb your GPA. But more importantly, if you do drop, figure out why you did so poorly even though you put in a lot of time. Make sure you do well next time you take it and I'm sure adcoms won't think of it as too big of a deal.
