I don't know how reliable this is. my coworker and I (both applying to d-school this year!) were googling around for a formula for ds admission and found this. (pbb posted before)

Old method

  • [(overall GPA/4) + (science GPA/4)] x [(DAT-AA + DAT-PA)/60] x 300=Objective score
New method
  • {[(science GPA + cumulative GPA)/8] x [DAT-RC/30] x [(DAT-QA + DAT-BIO + DAT-OC)/90]} x 75=Objective score

source: http://www.jdentaled.org/cgi/content/full/71/4/492 (from UNLV)

Old method score ranges 0-600, and new one ranges 0-75

My coworker and I calculated our chances using these formula and we were pretty sad :scared:

It's interesting. My school's medical school has a point system that also factors how long you've been a resident... Not sure of the equation though.

So what type of number we looking at?

>25 or <25???

372 and 25.1

I calculated mine and I got 346 and 23 with my previous DAT scores 🙁
Gotta ace that DAT this time.

So the new method does not include General Chem mark? 😕

DAT-QA?? Is that supposed to be QR or AA?

Old method 385.56
New method 27.08

For some reason I do NOT feel as comfortable about applying to dental school as these results indicate. hmm who knows?

I was bored so I gave it a try. 380 and 38.2 is what I got.

Well I certainly hope that some schools use this new system. 294 old and 33.3 new, mainly because I have a 16 PAT and 27 RC. Huge difference between the two systems in my case. However, my 23 in GC gets the shaft in the new method....that's no good.

Probably not a whole lot of truth to these stat generators, but loads of fun nevertheless.

358 and 30.6. Wow my QR blows

😱

funnn though 😛
mine is 392.1 and 30.5

I couldn't care less since I didn't apply to UNLV, but it's interesting to see that the school doesn't give a **** about G. chem section. A big blow to those with 30 on GC.

hmm Florida is below NOVA? that's not the reputation going around down here in G-ville.

PAT doesn't show up either.

Every school has their preferences. Maybe this is UNLV's so if your applying there, this may be good information. For the rest of us it seems pretty useless. It's comparing all dental schools based on UNLV's standard which makes no sense because other schools may want to see you GC or PAT scores. Or maybe they don't even use a formula at all!
