WA Schools (UW, UPS, EWU)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied to University of Washington through OTCAS and I haven't received any sort of notification (however, my OTCAS app is still being verified).

Good luck!

I applied to the UW last year and did not here a response until April! Check on your UW app to make sure its submitted (you can also check app status there before they mail out their decision). I am not sure about the other WA schools, as I did not apply to them, but I am sure it takes them some time to go through the apps as well. Finding out if you got in is really a waiting game (its so hard!) but you should at least be able to see that the app was processed if you check the school/OTCAS website.

I called last Monday to all the schools.... UW and UPS just started looking at applications and EWU is finishing them up and will send out notifications by the end of this week.

When I spoke with UPS I was told they are meeting Feb 24 to make decisions.

I spoke with Mary a few weeks ago to verify they had received everything and she said they received 350 applications via OTCAS but only 250 of those people filled out the additional graduate school application.

So I guess that means we have a 1:10 chance?? Sigh...

Hi All, I am a current EWU OT student. I went through this whole process last year, I do not envy you one bit, it was hard! I am volunteering at the interview so I received an email today saying approximately 130 people will be interviewing. That is only about 30 more than last year and there were a lot more applicants this year. Not everyone received and interview invite, so while it doesn't mean you are in (yet), you are one step closer. Also heard that the average gpa is lower this year which may be good for anyone worrying about their gpa and other stats. If anyone is in Spokane and would like to talk about interview day or the program in general, let me know!

UW - Letters won't be mailed out until the 9th of March

UPS - Letters are suppose to be mailed out sometime this week.

Thanks for letting us know... That's much sooner than I expected for UW!

Thanks OTMAGH! Do you happen to know if UW will notify all of their applicants at once, or in rounds?

Thanks! Guess I'll be waiting for my 5th and final denial letter this year... Now I will be on year 4 of applying.... Awesome... 😡

Hi there!

Has anyone heard from UW?

Waiting is hard. 🙂

I haven't heard anything from UW yet and I'm so anxious!!!

UGHH - I know... I see from last year that people got responses around 3/31 and 4/1, and I don't want to wait any longer!

I have a friend who said she got accepted to UW today so I guess there are letters going out!

Does she live within Seattle? I just want to get an idea of when they sent the letters out.

Really? Did your friend get accepted my email or letter? I know everyone is getting a letter, but I'm assuming that the emails will come first to some.... sigh.

She does live in Seattle, but I am not sure if it was an e-mail or a letter! I guess the rest of us will keep waiting....

Here's the start to another week of waiting to hear from UW and EWU.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Congrats OT4Life!!!

I haven't gotten anything from them yet... I'm not going there, regardless, and I'm planning to stay in state (which is not WA). What's the protocol here? I should just wait and see if I get a letter? Did they send out letters for yea and nay and alternates?

congrats ot4Life! Do you live around Seattle? I haven't heard anything from them yet :/
What are your stats?

I called Mary (I live in NY and didn't want to wait for my letter to make it all the way here!) and found out I am on the alternate list. The waiting continues uuugghh...

Did she tell you your number on the wait-list?

She didn't say. Only that people that were accepted have until April 1st to accept their acceptance. So, I should hear if I am going to be offered a spot slightly after April 1st or sooner if many people decline quickly.

Yeah, if you call Mary will let you know. I did not get in :-(.

i got into UW and found out on the 8th via email--- I got my letter that following Sat. i live in the seattle area--- good luck!

I was waitlisted like some of you. Does anyone know how many people have declined in the past few years? I 'm just hanging in here and trying to stay realistic of my chances.

Congrats to you all that got into a school! 🙂

You can click into the past. I remember a few people were on the wait list for UW in the forums last year. I don't recall who or if they ended up attending or which thread that was located under. The admissions advisor, Mary, is very helpful and I bet if you put in a call to her she would be able to give you the best answer. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the reply, fruitloops!

I read the threads that I could find when I searched 'uw waitlist occupational therapy' and found mostly people mentioning they were on the waitlist but no one being accepted from the waitlist.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in waiting though. 🙂

I have a feeling I recall hearing of a few declining their admissions to UW last year. I got two letters of rejection from them this year. It was so odd. The first had my correct address and the second had my address with the city spelled wrong.

Last night I had a dream that one of the letters was an acceptance and one was a rejection. I was freaking out because I didn't know if I was accepted or rejected. Maybe this means I was wait listed somewhere, lol. UW is as mean as the REM patterns of my sleeping brain.

And to continue this weird sleepy rant: this is why when all of us become OTs, we should pursue doctorates or part-time teaching, so that class sizes may increase and then more of us can be accepted and then more of us can help others lead a meaningful and more independent life. It will be full circle and it will be amazing.

Lol. You mean you want to create a surplus of OTs so that there are no more jobs available? (insert stressed out face here).

Nah, I'm (mostly) kidding with that comment. A good friend of mine got rejected to all the schools she applied to this year, and I'm trying toconvince her to apply again next year.

Good luck to those on the waiting list!

Hi- do you know how many schools she applied to and what her stats were? Im kind I nervous because I see a lot of people applying yet after year.

Thanks for the info, fruitloops. Sorry to hear about the letter mishap, def no fun there.

OT does seem like it's increasingly more competitive year after year. I love hearing about people getting in as it gives me hope that I have a chance, but from what I can tell, not many people get off of the waitlist at UW. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hey there!

Anyone offered a spot off of the waitlist for UW? Or know of anyone that was offered a spot?

I heard the cut off date for deposits is April 1st.

Good luck everyone!!!

Has anyone heard anything for Fall 2013?? I know it is a little soon, but I hate waiting! 🙁

UW sends out acceptances/rejections in early March

Like Joe3333 said, no one will be hearing from UW until early March.

Oh okay! I thought I saw somewhere that they had gotten together this past week and were going to send out letters! Maybe I misinterpreted!

I heard they'll have the list (for UW) done this Thursday!! Has anyone else heard this?

I have not heard anything but also I have not emailed Mary because I figured she is getting slammed...where did you hear this? Also, do they send out emails or letters?

I called Mary a while ago, and she said by the 14th! She seems to prefer phone calls to emails..
