Does anyone know how to get around all the blocks and forced consultations in IC + at WAG? It's so stupid and annoying. Can't sell an RX until i do my consultation in the computer whether its a new patient, or someone who hasn't gotten a drug in awhile and I have to "rank their adherence" or whether they're eligible for MTM. Enough is enough. I can't go to the bathroom without coming back and someone waiting for me at the register to "consult them" out of the work queue. That's all I hear all day long from the register: Consultation! Consultation!

I'm not familiar with WAGs computer system (never worked or rotated there yet) but I did work at a pharmacy where new scripts had a consultation lock on them. The pharmacist had to scan their credentials to get it to go away. Most of the time they just asked if the patient had it, if they did and if they didn't have questions they would scan off and be done with it. Some pharmacists instructed techs when it pops up to ask if they had it before and if the patient had no questions the pharmacist would just give us their credentials to scan without stopping what they were doing.

Yeah it is getting ridiculous. And, most of those consultations are so random and nonsense.

My techs yell out "I have a cap on XXXX(the first four letters of their last name)." I listen for it, and remove it (unless it is an important one the RPh put on there). I have also gone through the queue and removed them if I have downtime. I am sure this would not be an approved of action, but I keep things running more smoothly this way.

So true. That is what i do.

For what we get paid, I can live with it. My advice to you; Grin and bear it.

*queue in the pharmacy student who never worked retail to chime in with "it's our duty and THE LAW to counsel on all new prescriptions with open ended questions"*
