I got off both of my top 2 choices' wait lists. Just goes to show that a wait list is a very good thing and by no means something to be upset about!

I got off one, but I withdrew from the others after that because it was my top choice. This was way before May 15th, so I can't really say if I would have gotten off of others.

I'd put that down as an 100%!

Wow, congrats. In my experience, waitlists have been something to be very upset about ... i guess it varies by person!

I got off the only waitlist I stayed on. Had I stayed on all, I think I would have gotten off 2/4.

👎 Ack. One-third falls right in between two poll options... This bothers my inner mathematician.

Well, c'est la vie.

0 for 2 - looks like a lot of luckier people than me on this thread...

3 out of 4 here. Feel very lucky that I got off of one let alone three. Thank god the choice of which to go to was practically made for me by location. Good luck to the rest there is still a month left, and I would assume that there may be another small push right before classes start, so keep your heads up, keep interest level up, and be willing to move in a day if asked to. Good Luck

One for one. I'm hoping for you, jult.

:xf:

Never gotten off of one (3 years trying). 1 the first year, 2 the second year, and 3 this year (I withdrew from one, got rejected from one, and am still on one)

Yeah, me niether, 4 last year, 3 this year.

But i guess you have an acceptance in Houston? Awsome, congrats, glad three times through finally paid off!

It looks like, if this is a reliable sample at all -

about half of people dont get off any waitlist at all, and that includes people on a lot of WLs.

Of the half that do, almost all of them get into a good chunk of the schools they are waiting on. They are very few people, it looks like, who get off one wait list, but are stuck on a lot of others.

In case thats helpful for people next year ...

I was fortunate to get off 2 out of 3 of my waitlists, all from schools I interviewed early in the season for (pre-November).

From my experience, if you were waitlisted from schools that interviewed you early in the season, there is a good chance you are going to get a spot.

Good luck to you all!

With such a small sample size I don't know how accurate this poll is, but it kind of makes sense how it has turned out. It seems like if one school likes someone enough to take them off the waitlist, others feel the same way and do so. And if one school doesn't want to take a chance on someone, than the others don't as well. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the latter category. 0 for 6 right now.

I think it's interesting that the largest number of people who didn't get into ANY school off the waitlist only stayed in one.

I suspect these are people who got into a great school and are happy with it, but stayed on just one "dream school" waitlist for the hell of it. Unsurprisingly, since those "dream schools" tend to be everyone else's dream schools as well, those are the people who didn't have much luck. I don't know, just a theory.

I got off the WL for my top choice in May, then withdrew from 4 others. Out of those 4, I really only cared about 2 schools, but both of them seem to have had very little movement even after I withdrew.

This is not scientific by any means, but it seems that quite a few schools are having lower-than-average WL movement this year.

I got off the only waitlist I cared about. I was waitlisted at 3 other places, but I really never intended to go there if accepted. Well, maybe one of them but it was unlikely.

I got in off of my only wait list (which was also my dream school). I like wait lists.

0 out of 2 🙁 However, I am very happy for all you who got off of waitlists especially those who got into their dream schools! Congrats to all of you.

I'm in this exact position, although I'm staying on my dream school waitlist because I <3 it, not just for the hell of it. 😉
