Hey everyone, I was want to say congrats to all that have been accepted to med school for the upcoming semester. 😀 But I know there are a few out there just like me who have been wait listed and lets hold our heads high and start this thread.

I withdrew my app from exactly three schools... now I am waitlisted at three schools. Hmmm. Anyways, NYCOM/DMU/KCOM. I heard that around 20% of waitlisted students get into a program across the country-- I don't know how reliable that stat is.

I am heading to Nova Southeastern University (NSUCOM). It was a pretty tough decision as GAPCOM is going to turn out a very good school due to excellent clinical rotations and great basic science faculty.

Being waitlisted really blows. I feel like I am just waiting for the mailman every second of the day. But, I guess the upside is that we all still have a shot, right? How long does it usually take after the 15th to see some movement?

I got wait listed at LECOM-Bradenton and PCOM-GA as well. I am still pending an answer from TUCOM-M.I. Thanks to those that gave up their seat to some of these schools. It will give me a better chance I need all the luck I can get. I wait everyday by the mailbox as well to hear from one of the schools but I believe I need to take the MCAT again. I will get in somewhere one day.

I am on the alternate list at CCOM, and it is frustrating because the list isn't ranked and they won't tell you how many people are on the list. I am keeping my fingers crossed, although they pull people from the list until the first week of school... that is a long time to wait.

I just found out that Touro-NV has received the 2nd deposit from 104 people out of 108 spots. Do peaple "really" put down 2 deposits and go to a different school? I find this hard to believe. They are still interviewing as well until next week. There are 175 on the waitlist, I doubt I'll make it. 🙁

Every school has different policies. Touro gives out the stats. I was told the waitlist will be ranked the first of June.

I guess I looked at the wrong thread, but it took about two weeks for me to find out I was put on the wait list at WVSOM. I also found out that the whole class has paid their deposits. I didn't think it sounded good for us but we will all we can do is wait and see.

Everyone has paid their deposit?! Great! The letter says that they can contact you up until August 15? What day does school start at WVSOM? Do you live close to WV?

I was thought that school started on August 8 at WVSOM. I live in Georgia so it is a pretty good haul up to WV. I drove up there to the interveiw and I believe it took me close to 9 hours.

I was wondering how helpful the different D.O. schools are for all the waitlisted. I am waitlisted at LECOM-Erie, and they don't reveal anything. They can't even say if you are a high, mid, or low alternate, and only said that we could be notified anytime between now and July 28th (the 2nd day of orientation). Are other schools this secretive? I just want to get an idea of where I stand, but this confidential stuff is making the waitlist process difficult. 😕

anyone know of schools ever waitlisting you but not informing you in writing in order to see if they will just send you an acceptance? say you interviewed at such a time where all the deposits were due during that month ..would they waitlist you but wait to send you a letter?

Okay....so there is some good news!! I was offered a seat for the class of 2010! The admission people do not see the waitlist moving so they said they want me for 2010! One more year can't hurt and I can TRAVEL!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your acceptance to medschool! I was also offered a spot for the class of 2010 and I jumped on it. I will be in Ireland for the first part of august and then in Corsica for the rest of August. Trying to decide where to go after that after I replenish my travel fund Congrats

ive heard of quite a few instances where an applicant was offered a seat in the next year's class. if they know you are as good as or better then even a few people in the current year's class then i think they know that if there was space, they would have taken you. So instead of making you apply and go through the process all over again, they just give you a spot in next years class. they also hold spots for those who dropped early in the current year for whatever reasons, those people usually about 5% come back with spots waiting as well. i personally would still push for a spot this year, presistance and dedication can do wonders..everything is not as formal and black and white as it seems, the admissions can do whatever they want whenever they want. if they know and like you, and your file is there among a lot of others who maybe are higher on the waitlist then you, who is gonna question them if you somehow get the spot? NOBODY...waitlists not being published or released is a good thing because it usually means the school wants to be free of being bound to a certain ranking and order, even if its them that ranked you. Sometimes the ad com ranks you but its the admissions director or someone else who picks the people off the list of waitlisters. nobody is standing over them to check they went to the next person down so do your best and show them what you are made of. They already want to take you so thats a very big level of confidence you should work with. good luck

an additional note...get it in writing!! ...that you have an offer of acceptance for the class of 2010...do not go on anyone's word...maybe you have it already and thats why you are telling us..but make sure youve got that letter. if they ask, just say it has to do with insurance or scholarships that require you to tell them about your academic plans.
