•I'm anxiously waiting as an out-of-state for UNC. The admissions office has told me on several occasions that they traditionally do not have any waitlist movement until July at the earliest. Can anyone explain this, considering most deposits have already been collected by that time?•••••The reason for the atrition at that time is partly b/c of those students that did not perform to the dental school's standards for their grades during the final quarter/semester/year. since some acceptances are conditional that you achieve a certain grade level, if you don't get there, then they can take the acceptance away and open up a spot. Also there are still some people with deposits at one place and on the waitlist at another....like you...waiting for the waitlist to move. If they get in off the list, then they would probably drop the spot at school A and take the spot at school b...thus opening a spot for someone on the waitlist at school A. 😛
(hope that wasn't too confusing...) of course there are various other reasons spots open up late...for some...they change their mind and think dentistry is not for them and drop out....whatever the reason...to each his/her own... 🙂
