ooh yes!! Kat, UT is your instate, right? When did you interview?
I wish the letters would be here tomorrow...I just had an exam and I have 2 more next week so I want to have some good news leading up to midterms!! Of course tomorrow is way too early to get them

my sisters came up with this weird idea that since UT made it through the 2nd round of NCAA basketball, I got an interview...then if UT gets in the final 4, I get accepted, but if they dont, I get waitlisted.
Apparently my family thinks my fate is in the hands of the UT basketball team.

I know just how you feel, Moonpaw! Every day I go to the mailbox, both dreading and hoping what I may find...which so far has just been nothing!😱 I think I might go crazy before I ever find out whether or not I got in. Does any one have any clues about when we'll hear?
Off the top of my head, I think last year's acceptances came around April 3rd.

Yes, UT is my instate school (and the only one I applied to!)
I interviewed on Thurs. 3/20 at 4:30.
I really hope we get something by monday!

april 3rd? I don't think I can wait that long! Even finding out this coming Monday or Tuesday seems too far away!!
He said in the info session that the letters would either be sent Thursday, Friday or Monday. Last year they were sent Monday (BOO!) and most of us got them either Wednesday or Thursday...which last year, I believe was the 3rd or 4th. Hope this helps....

A friend of a friend got her acceptance today from UT. She lives in Knoxville and received it by mail.
I talked with Susan Cherry today and she told me she mailed all of the letters yesterday. I hope on Monday to hear all of you are coming to UT!
Hopefully we'll all be joining the class of 2012, critterfixer! I loved the school and everyone there - the staff, faculty, students, were so nice and welcoming when I was there for my interview! Thank you for the heads up that letters went out yesterday!
It was mentioned by Dean Brace and also my interviewers that the class size will be increasing from 70 to 85, but they didnt know what year that would start. Does anyone at UTK know if they're increasing the size for the incoming class? (I hope so!)

Dean Brace will only say that it will happen when he can work out the logistics. Not only do they have to be able to accomodate 15 more students in anatomy lab, micro lab, and parasitology lab, but there is the question of where to put the larger class for lecture. Splitting the class into 3 sections instead of 2 seems to make the most sense for lab, but scheduling the professors for 3 sections is much harder than it sounds.
Our class would be decidedly unhappy to spend another year in the first year classroom, which I am sure you noticed, is not really very accomodating and could not house 85 students. There is a lot of discussion going on as to just how to make the class size increase happen in a way that works, with minimal growing pains. I don't envy the administration this task at all!
So the long and the short of it is that I think they are working hard to make it happen, with no guarantees. 🙂

They certainly led us to believe it would be happening this year. They have voted on it and need to work out a way to implement it. One obstacle is that the first year classroom really can't hold that many people. There is talk of putting next year's first years in another classroom, but nothing is concrete. i just checked the email they sent us and there was nothing on when they would put it into place, just that they voted on it.

Shemari, what state are you in? I'm in NY, and I'm afraid that it's going to take until tomorrow for the letter to get here, in which case I might spontaneously combust. This waiting is killing me, and it's no help that I've been hearing reports of people getting letters starting on Saturday.

I'm in Ithaca, NY...the mail gets here pretty early though - it came around 12:30, and I know some towns, like my hometown, doesn't get mail until 3 or so..

I got in! Holla! I probably won't be accepting but who knows...I could have a last minute change of heart...the weather in Knoxville is way better than the weather in St Paul, MN. Congrats to everyone else who got in...and to anyone who got waitlisted, I am probably giving up my spot so don't lose hope!

I just realized, however, how new this will all be for me...I've never had to live so far away from family before, and I really have NO family in the area. I've always lived in on-campus dorms, with other students, so I've always had a roommate, and everything is pretty close by.

Same here. I am extremely close with my family, and I've never been more than 3 hours away from them. I'm already freaking out about it! Plus my dogs and horse will be at home, and I absolutely hate being away from them! They have separation anxiety whenever I leave the house, even if my sisters or parents are there!
One of my good friends from school applied, and I'm waiting to hear how it went for her...it would be great to know another person in the area!

I think I will choose UTK over Purdue (much closer to home, better weather) but haven't decided officially yet. And then I'd still be waiting to see how/where I am at Auburn.

I also got accepted! I am still thinking about Which school to choose. It is a hard decision everyone has been soo nice. I am thinking I may got to Wisconsin though they seem to have a bigger dairy program. It is just hard to turn Tenn down🙁 Well I will decide soon then maybe someone on the waitlist will get in whichever school I choose. 😍UTenn

I got my acceptance letter today too! I saw the mailman pull up and I stalked him until he finished putting everyones mail in their boxes (I live in an apt). It seemed like it was going to take forever for him to finish!
