Is it a "bad sign" if you do not automactically receive invite to interviews?
Do school send "reject" notices early in the process?
Is not hearing anything from schools (w/r/t interviews) a "hopeful" sign signifying that you may still be "in the running" for an interview?

Yeah, its much better than being rejected. There are quite a few of us who are still waiting to hear from tons of schools and currently have few (i.e. 1) to no interviews. What are your stats like?

frankly speaking, if your GPA/MCAT scores do not meet the cut-off some schools put out, they you will probably be looking at post-January interview dates, after all the 3.8, 35+ applicants are screened.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you applied broadly...

Here's my experience...GW was my first secondary that I finished. Sometime in late June - early July. I heard back from all my other schools before I heard from them yesterday offering me an interview. Chances are if they haven't rejected you from the beginning, they are seriously considering you for an interview. So no its not bad if you don't automatically hear anything from them. Didn't hear anything from them the whole time, and every time I called they told me the same thing, 'Your app. has been reviewed already, but it's in line to be reviewed again. It's not a bad thing, most students are reviewed many times before they are offered an interview.' Apparently they were not pulling my leg.

I got a few early rejections, otherwise waiting on 10 schools. No interviews yet and I think I have a solid app.

Wow... People say this to me usually, but I guess it's my turn this time... I'm surprised you haven't heard from a bunch of schools.

I should start a poll of dates we should start to panic by.

Nov 1
Nov 15
Thanksgiving
Dec 15

My personal pick is Thanksgiving--I don't think that many invites go out after that...

LizzyM said January 21st. Hard to believe, I know... but she knows better than we do.

January 21st... is that for the interview invite or the acceptance?
Three more months before we can officially start panicking!

She said to start complaining if we don't have interview invites by Jan 21st.

I have 1 rejection and an interview (late jan.). It's been a while and not much love.. I guess we will have to wait. gl!

Nice numbers... I'm sure you'll manage to get some more love. I also want to say that your numbers and lack of love also make me feel a bit more at ease 😀 I used to think I was the only one with decent numbers and no love, but it appears there are a few of us now 😀

yeah lizzym definitely knows more about this process than us, which means that she's right. but is that stopping anyone from panicking ... i know i'm still panicking haha. i think though that if by christmas i don't have a few more interviews more panicking (severity and frequency) will increase

nice to know i'm not alone

30 secondaries sent
2 rejections
i think 10 or more holds already though :\

how do you know if your application is on hold or not? did you call and ask, or did they send an e-mail? i keep reading about people saying that their app is on hold at a school and i have no idea how they know that.

I don't think you should worry at all. It isn't going to do anything for you except get you sick. It isn't going to make the process any easier. Try to relax as much as possible, keep praying and believing and keep yourself busy! It will come when it is supposed to. God bless!

some email
some don't but when you go to the status page they tell you that your application will be reviewed again later in the year

Interview invites that are sent out now are for January.

If you don't hear anything by December 15th, you should start worrying.

I just received an interview for a school whose secondary I completed on July 31st. It's for early December. I wouldn't panic quite yet. *shrug*

nice to hear, that's really reassuring, which school is it if you don't mind me asking

You'll get an interview invite from OHSU, I can almost guarantee it.
That's good to hear, though I would feel much safer having more than one interview (which I don't even have yet)!

u called them and they responded?? im impressed... every school i called basically told me to f*ck off...

When did Lizzy M say Jan. 21st? I wonder what the significance of that day is...

I'm really hoping for an invite to a specific school and am hoping very much that they didn't just pass me by

I think she said Jan 21 because that's the last day her school send out interview invites (for March interviews). So, interview invites continue into January/February of next year. No need to worry until then 😛

Have secondaries still out at Loyola, Rush, WUSTL (was having a laugh with that one, only did it because I graduated undergrad there), SLU, Tulane, and my state school Oklahoma. Been rejected by Boston straight up, and by Mizzou because my state ties weren't strong enough.

I submitted on Sep 11th, have a 3.03 cum/30R MCAT, but also a good amount of research/clinical experience these past 2 years.

The schools have had my app for almost 2 months and I've received no interviews, so I may throw out an LOI after thanksgiving if I still have no love.

I don't think that's always true. I got an interview today, and the scheduling calendar had date openings from tomorrow (11/12) and every week after that. So, from my experience, I think the trend is for schools to very very selectively pick their students for interviews while keeping as many interview spaces open as possible...

Hope that helps. Hope everyone is keeping sane... get out sometime people... breathe from fresh air...
