Hello!

So I am at the point now where I am starting to hear back from schools. I was denied at PhillyU about a week ago, and just now I received an e-mail from Temple, offering me a spot on the wait list.

The e-mail stated that I needed to reply to it with my consent. Other than that, should I add anything else to the e-mail?

Is there anything I should be doing besides a simple confirmation e-mail? I really don't know if there is anything else I could do to increase my chances of getting in, other than waiting to hear back from Temple. Any advice out there? Thank you!

Reply with your consent. Other than that, just be sure to keep them up to date with any pre reqs you complete or any volunteer hours you do, this may or may not move you further up on the wait list depending on the program. Best of luck!!

I was in the same boat a year ago and found some great advice in a different waitlist thread.

I wrote a separate "thank you" email to the program director/department head/graduate admissions committee thanking them for their continued interest in me. I also let the program know I was still strongly interested and committed to attending if they pulled me off the list. Then I just picked out one cool thing about the program that the department is proud of and told them I admired it. And I gave a super brief update about myself since I applied: a promotion I got and continued growth working with OTs.

The program I applied to purposefully gave vague feedback about waitlist ranking for some reason (like middle third). So I figured it wouldn't hurt stand out a little extra among the waitlisted after all was said and done with OTCAS. Ended up getting in =) I did get a reply from the program director thanking me for my dedication.

Either way movement off the list WILL start to happen as people start choosing their first or second choices.

I'm a big fan of the thank you letters. Nothing bad can come of them. Good luck, future OT's!
