So, I finally heard back from my last interview today. I had 3 interviews at Wake Forest, Commonwealth Medical, and Drexel, and I was placed on the waitlist at all three schools. Question: Is it is okay to contact the admissions office and ask about how to improve your application for the following year even though you have not been rejected officially yet?

I would like feedback to see what areas I need to improve in, encase I decide to apply again. But I am not sure if this is appropriate given that I haven't been rejected.

While you are still under consideration for admission, it is unlikely that the admissions office will discuss your application with you. You have to wait until the cycle has ended or your have a rejection letter in hand. In the meantime, contact those schools that outright rejected you so that you can get started if you find that you need to reapply.

Don't ask for application feedback right now. You should still push to get an admission. Was there 1 school you liked more, or that seemed to be more interested in you? I know WAke Forest is a good school. You should think about writing them a nice note telling them how much you want to go there, they are your #1 choice, etc. If you have a good relationship with a mentor or LOR writer, a well timed phone call might be of use right about now. If still no results, THEN you reapply.

If you want application feedback right now, try to get it from a school that has already rejected you, or from a trusted mentor.

As a former person who found themselves in this position I would say wait a month before doing this but then set up face to face interviews if at all possible. I scheduled one of these at my school and the next day got the phone call that I was in.

I actually wrote them a letter of interest/update letter about two weeks ago, and I am writing a letter of intent to WF this weekend. Oddly, WF was the worst interview I had... but I feel out of the three schools it is both the best money wise and education wise (of all three schools).. plus I hate the cold and would love to get into a warmer climate. I am also writing LO interest to commonwealth and Drexel just as a back up.. but I really don't want to go to commonwealth unless it is the only place I get in.. I just didn't care for the Scranton area at all. But in the end, if that is where i end up, I can live anywhere for 4 years. 😀

I wouldn't necessarily go by your interview experience when deciding where to go to school. Not that you should totally ignore it, but a lot of it depends on the interviewer(s) you happen to get. Also, some schools really pull out all the stops to impress applicants, but may not provide the best learning environment for you once you get there. I am not familiar with these other schools, but Wake I know has a good reputation. You aren't in a terrible position, and may still get an acceptance this year.
