Waitlist and CTE

I’m waitlisted at my state school with in state tuition, and I’ve gotten accepted into a school with a CTE deadline of April 30. I’m nervous that that’s not enough time for waitlist movement, April 30 feels so early for a CTE. Is there anything I can do?

When is this school's first day of orientation?

The CYMS process is a "gentleman's agreement" without any enforcement. Schools are recommended to set their CTE dates to 3 weeks before orientation, but medical schools are not obligated.

Orientation begins at the end of July, last year their cte deadline was 3 weeks before orientation but this year they set the deadline to April 30. Seems kind of bizarre to me but that is what my offer letter and their website says

30th is incredibly early... that is usually the first day that applicants have to select PTE and can only hold one acceptance. WL movement won't start for the vast majority of schools until after this point...
Might be worth it to just check with admissions to see if there was any mistake with mixing up PTE and CTE.

I believe if I’m not mistaken pte is mid April and cte opens April 30

Yeah I see what school this is... they may be trying to get around the OBBB issues. Either way, a CTE deadline of April 30th is going to be too early for there to be significant WL changes.
If you prefer the WL school, it may be worth sending them a message early April about your CTE deadline and asking for any input on WL decision timelines. Worst thing they can say is that they cannot share that information.

Generally, the MSAR will list the CTE date, but so should this document.

Most schools say they want students to choose PTE by April 30. I'm going to have to see which school has a CTE deadline as April 30.
