Hey guys,

I was wondering....what do you do while you're on the waitlist for a school?
Just the mere thought of being notified at the very last minute is NOT cool. I got waitlisted at Western and the letter says that we could possiby hear from them between April - August. August?!? 👎 - you must be kidding me. I was hoping to do a bit of travelling before I enter pharmacy school (already been accepted elsewhere, but would much rather attend Western). Now I feel like I have to sit around and wait for the mailman for another 4-5 months. I don't want to plan anything anymore because WHAT IF that letter comes and I'm not around for it? :scared:

Has this happened to anyone?

What would you do?

le sigh.

i talked to one of the current first-year students at UCSD, and he told me that he was on the waitlist and wasn't offered admission until a few weeks before school started... he was all packed and ready to move to USC too, but changed all of his plans in a couple of weeks to go to UCSD.

i thought schools kept on trying to fill their classes to pretty much the week before school starts...

If western is where you want to go, then just wait it out. Have someone you trust check you mail for you. From personal experience, don't count yourself out if you are on the waitlist. I was on the waitlist with 100 people and thought I didn't have a chance. Well, I dropped my summer classes (to give me something to do the next year while I was reapplying) and then they called me in July to admit me. Well, ******* here didn't have the work done. I reapplied and got in early with no problem (I ended up aceing those classes I had put off), but I still kinda cringe when I think I could be almost done with my P2 (of 3 total) years. It's not over till school starts if you are on the waitlist.

Being waitlisted is weird. I have never been waitlisted before, but I've never been accepted before either.

This is the first time I truly did want to go to a certain school of my choice.

Let's see. I made plans to travel in the summer, and then travel to another country during the fall.

I accepted my invitation to be waitlisted though, in case of any changes because you never know. Being waitlisted to my dream school is somewhat of a drag, but at least if I don't get in I get to travel the world. I think I am comforted by the fact that I am in no hurry to finish school. I am quite happy about my choices.

I hope you are too. Good luck and best wishes!

Oh and as a response to that question. I'm letting my mom deal with the letter that comes in, because SHE wants me to go to pharmacy school more than I do! So I'm sure she won't let something like that slip by. Plus she works at the post office so it can't slip by if it comes.

hahahahha... great idea!
see, my dad opened my western letter for me and told me i got accepted....turns out he read it wrong. -_- doh!
well, maybe being wailisted is a good thing. life is strange sometimes. hehe.

Hmmm..after talking to a few pharmacists, all of them were against me going to Western. Wow, I didn't know so many things (but then of course, Western only tells us good stuff about their school). Well, I'm waiting for one other school, so we'll see how it goes!

But thanks for all your input! I figured that life is short....I shouldn't put things I wanna do on hold. As they say, carpe diem! Travelling, here I come! (But first must save up some mooooola!) 🙂
