Hey guys,

I am wait-listed at my top choice school. It's OOS and not a top school or anything, but I literally fell in love with the school when I visited and interviewed there. I stayed with a host, got to tour the town, and school facilities, and LOVED everything about it (location, curriculum, students, faculty etc). Because I am OOS (and my stats aren't the best..29/3.7), I think that was the reason I was wait-listed. I felt that it was my best interview yet because I really could portray genuine enthusiasm about the school.

Anyway, my semester hasn't been the best. I took three upper science courses and two non-science courses. I received high A's in the non-science courses which was French 2 and a sociology class.. but I just finished taking finals last week and had a chance to visit the professors for my three science classes. I was borderline in all of them and unfortunately will be receiving 3 B's with an 89.1, 88.7, and 89.7. The classes were: Neuroscience, Advanced Physiology, and Virology....The 89.7 was in Neuroscience, but the professor told me that he would not curve me up and was firm on that..

I'm still pretty burnt out from studying for these exams (all cumulative!!!!) so it was disappointing to hear that I had received 3 B's when I was hoping for AT LEAST one of my borderline grades to be an "A".

So, my question is, would sending in a transcript update of my fall grades be detrimental to my waitlist spot? (I think they may ask for it). I should still have around a 3.6 science GPA even with 3 more B's... I just feel that my stats aren't that strong so having more B's will make me look bad or look like I have "senioritis" lol.

Maybe I'm just freaking out? I just came back from all my professor's offices... so still pretty disappointed in myself.

I think you should calm down and go for a run, and then start prepping a genuinely awesome letter of interest/intent.

Take one of the acceptances you already have.

Are we both reading the same thread?

OP I have no idea. In fact, this is also a fear of mine, which is why I'm hoping I don't get waitlisted at any schools that require a transcript update. Of course you don't have any control over it, and if they do ask you for them, try and see if you can include an explanation of "interviewing and missing class" for the lower grades (if you choose to). Either way, please let us know how it turns out and good luck👍

Before coming to SDN I probably would've said "3 Bs in upper levels isn't the end of the world." But now that SDN has infiltrated my very soul, I'm inclined to tell you not to send an updated transcript and to instead say that your continued upper level coursework has made you even more excited about medical school.

Concur.
