I have been fortunate enough to be taken off the waitlist at a school today and choose between two of my top choices. I was just wondering, since it's passed April 30th, how long do I have to respond to both these schools (with which school I decide to go to and which one I respectfully decline)? Both schools have very different pros and cons! So I wanted to think about this as much as I could in the little time I have (i'm assuming) to decide.

The school that just took you off the waitlist should have given you the length of time you have to decide. If they have not, it will be no longer than two weeks. You should contact them to make sure.

@gyngyn does the school you are holding an acceptance at ever give you a shorter deadline? (cause they need to fill that seat if you leave it!)

In my case about 1.5 weeks ago, they gave me 5 days to verbally confirm, 2 weeks to send in my signed papers and deposit.

In terms of withdrawing from the other school, I think it's school specific but I withdrew as soon as school Y received my deposit, school X told me that was ok
