hey guys/gals I was waitlisted at PCO and now I have to write an additional essay for further review upon the adcom. I was wondering if anyone else here was placed on the waitlist and has to write this essay as well.

Congrats to those who got accepted to PCO!😀

bump...c'mon no one else received the waitlist??? I'm positive PCO can't accept everyone (I wish though).

Hey! I just interviewed at PCO last week and am waiting to hear back. I'm just curious: did they send you an email to let you know about the wait list, or just a letter in the mail?

I'm going crazy waiting...

it was not an Optometrist for sure. Unfortunely im not good with names but it was a tall lady with curly hair, nice eyeglasses. One of the candidates there from michigan was interviewed by Dr. Distefano (Dean of PCO).

i said the right things, it was a friendly conversation. 35-40 min interview. i though i did well. she asked me nice personal questions, it was laid back. i had fun

i was waitlisted but dont know why. i called the admissions counselor there and she told me to write an addendum to my essay that i wrote 2006. i dont have it with me anymore in my PC since it was attacked by a virus. but i am writing about my expieriences, elaborating on based on those exp. what made me decide to do optometry?

the email i got said two things 1) waitlisted 2) write an addendum..

my undergrad stats werent too great. i did a masters degree with a 3.44+ gpa. oat's 320.

wait... where are u going instead of PCO???

I wonder if most of the schools are almost done filling their class, is that why people get wait-listed? late in the app cycle?

actually, I just had my interview last Friday and I get a email today saying that I got in, I was really surprise that I get a response so fast, bc from what I've heard it usually takes up to a month. I am still waiting for SUNY though....hopefully they get back to me soon.

what school is your first choice?

Hey can you share your stats?

So far the schools that I've been to: PCO and SUNY, I like SUNY a lot, but I will see if PCO can give me some tuition break. But SUNY is my first choice though. I am also flying down to NOVA for an interview in 2 weeks and I will see how I feel about them.

My stats: went to a state school with Bio/Psych major, GPA 3.5, OAT 370, have been working as an ophthalmic tech for almost a year now, I am in the process of getting my tech certification.

eyepoker--i heard that if dr.johnston is there the day u interview he'll usually give u hint as to whether or not u are in. is this true, or was he not there when u interviewed? good luck everyone!!

Hey all... I'm not accepting my seat at PCO either, just FYI.

IU 😀 I just sent my deposit in yesterday! Although PCO seems to have a good reputation, I just felt that I'd be happier in Indiana for 4 years (I'm from MN and I love my midwest).

"I love my midwest" haha that's funny 🙂

I kinda got the feeling that he was hinting that I have a pretty good chance of getting in bc he said that I was on the high priority list to be accepted, but I still have to wait until everyone finishes interviewing, which is kinda annoying....because I WANNA KNOW....ahhhhh.

I interviewed at PCO in mid Jan, but still have not heard anything. I know they have had 2 committee meetings since my interview with at least 1 of those accepting students that interviewed after I did. I called admissions and they said that my file is still with the committee. When I asked if I was put on the waitlist, she said, "No, your file is with the committee, and is waiting to be reviewed."

This is extremely frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar situation but not with PCO. I had my interview and then my file went to 2 readers before it went to the comittee meeting. Some readers take longer than others, so maybe your file is still being reviewed and hasnt made it to the yes or no group meeting. Hope this helps

just wait. it'll come. they might not be as organized as you think they are. same thing happened to me. some girl got accepted the day after her interview and i didn't hear back for nearly a month. but it's all good. drink some beer play games or whatever gets your time goin'. g'luck.

I was interviewed at the end of February. They offered me an interview before I took the OAT. I didn't take my first OAT until Jan. of this year and it sucked (AA 300 TS 290). My GPA is 3.54 from UF but have been out of school for a while. They told me they needed to see at least a 310 in the subjects and that the admissions committee would make a decision on whether to wait for new scores. About a month later I got an email saying they could not reach a decision and that they would like to see an OAT retake. I just took the OAT again yesterday and scored a AA330 TS350. I emailed them afterwards and they told me there still was limited seating and the committee meets next week and will review it then. I'm praying. I had an interview at ICO also, but their class schedule the first year is a pain, and PCO seemed much more professional.

Has anyone been accepted to PCO within the last 2 weeks without having to write another essay?

i just declined my seat at PCO....hope this helps someone out 🙂
