I know this is a ridiculous question, but I’m curious.

Im accepted into one DO school which I’m happy with...
But I’m waitlisted at 3 MD schools

Statistically, am I likely to get in off one of the waitlists or should I plan to move to the DO school?

+1

Same position, would love to know this!

Impossible to answer.

As of right now you should be planning on going to the d o school, because that's your only acceptance.

You are asking the wrong question: what is the latest date that you would take an acceptance? If you start DO school and a week later you get a WL to MD would you take it? If you yes then you have to be both prepared to move for DO but transition almost immediately elsewhere. Up to you and your situation. If you have an SO and/or kids, you may want an absolute cut off date that you take the DO and withdraw the rest.
I see your point and I’ve thought that over. My real question is how often does movement occur off the waitlist and are my odds increased by being on 3 waitlists? I’m prepared for chaos either way

I don't even know what will happen with the waitlist at my own school, much less three unknown schools!

OP, it’s hard to gauge waitlist movement due to variability of admissions processes. Some schools offer more acceptances than they can admit knowing a certain number will go elsewhere, which results in less movement off waitlists. Other schools only offer acceptances for seats available and pull folks off waitlists as space becomes available which results in more movement off the waitlist.

Do you know if the programs you are waitlisted at have a ranked list or a general pool?

Thanks. They don’t provide any feedback about waitlist positions unfortunately.

Certainly not a ridiculous question. Hard / impossible to answer but not ridiculous. When does DO school start ?
