I have an acceptance at one school while I'm on the waitlist at two others. I'm aware that April 30th is the last day to hold multiple acceptances, but what is the policy on staying on other schools' waitlists while you already have one acceptance after April 30th? I called that school that I was accepted to (Temple) and they said it should be fine, but when I called the AAMC, a representative told me that even if you're on the waitlist, you're preventing other people from getting an acceptance when you already have one, so you should get yourself of the waitlist before April 30th. Considering I've received conflicting information....can you guys help?

You can stay on as many waitlists as you like until orientation. If you're accepted off of a waitlist, you will be given a short but reasonable period to decide between the two schools.

The big difference is whether you would attend the waitlisted school over the school you were accepted to. If so, you have every right to stay on the waitlist. Schools can see all the places the students on their waitlist were and were not accepted to, and if they decide to give you a spot in the class over somebody with no other acceptances, that's their prerogative.

So I can stay on my two waitlists and keep my acceptance at Temple after April 30th without any problem correct? And thank you for the timely response.

Yeah I think I would attend one of the waitlist schools over Temple actually.

From AAMC Traffic Rules

https://www.aamc.org/download/364264/data/2014trafficrules.pdf

...[P]ermit applicants who have been accepted or granted a deferral to remain on other
schools' or programs' wait lists and to withdraw if they later receive an acceptance offer
from a preferred school or program.

You can remain on waitlist until orientation.
do you have a pdf of/link to the traffic rules/recommendations for applicants? it seems to have disappeared from the internet

This sounds nonsensical.

Yeah I was immensely confused when she told me and even when I asked for more clarification she responded with essentially the same thing.

Should have told the AAMC rep to read the traffic rules and stop making **** up.
