How realistic is it to get accepted off waitlists? I am waitlisted at boston U and detroit mercy. 3.5 GPA 20 AA 19TS. Should I prepare for next cycle? Has anyone been accepted off these waitlists?

It's always best to prep for the worst.

That being said, you can expect some huge movement soon with the second deposits being due soon for these private schools.

I'm currently on 4 waitlists and waiting to hear back from Boston University as well. We got this!!! Keep your hopes up, but I am preparing for my backups in case I do not get in this cycle.

In some ways being on the wait list is worse than being rejected. It's like torture vs instant death lol Keep your hopes up, but like other people have mentioned, prepare for the next cycle at the same time.

Hahaha true that, I asked all the dental schools that rejected me to see what I should improve on and that is how I plan on spending my extra year.

Yea, that's the right move. Although, most will give a generic answer (increase GPA/DAT), which isn't reassuring. Keep on pushing, you will make it!

@johndoe123 I was just recently accepted off my instate waitlist. But I prepared for the worst, the instate waitlist from what I heard doesn't move (I mean who would give up In State Tuition?) while OOS Waitlist you're chances are pretty good (cause many of those that got accepted into IS will give up there acceptance from an OOS school). Just wait and be patient but also keep your grades up and continue with your EC's just in case you have to take a gap year and reapply. Plus a gap year, from what many who have taken them told me, was the best break/breather before being thrown into the crazy schedule of dental school. Good luck!

I think you should keep your hopes up until around April!! The second deposit is coming up and a lot of people would put down multiple deposits the first time. So there may be more open spots if some people decided to go to another school.
