Hello everyone,

First off, I am incredibly fortunate to have been admitted to School A and am planning on matriculating there. However, I was recently told by the admissions coordinator at School B(my top choice) that I am currently waitlisted at that "I have a better shot than most people of coming off the waitlist." The school has an unranked waitlist, but I was uncertain how the coordinator could make such a statement when I was under the impression the committee continually reevaluates waitlisted candidates and the needs of the class. I am ORM, but from the area, so now I have two questions

1) How can the coordinator make said statement if the list is unranked and the class composition is continually changing?
2) What are my chances of getting in/am I considered a "high priority" candidate at this stage? (I know this is hard to quantify/or even have an answer to)

Thank you all for your valuable help/insights!

An unranked waitlist merely means that there is no pre-enumerated list that will be slavishly drawn from without regard to changing information.
Such an unranked waitlist can be stratified such that preferred candidates are drawn to meet the mission of the school or the mix of the class.

Ah that makes sense. I was under the impression, that stratification didn't really occur by the definition of being unranked. Thank you for that

Some may say that School B has had "a boatload" of movement already. Does that combined with the information the admissions coordinator gave me mean that I should remain hopeful about an acceptance?
