so i got this from Michigan today...

"So far this year's applications in ERAS have overwhelmed us with qualified
candidates for our residency( almost 400 US seniors alone). Right now I do not
have any more open interview slots, and am basically unable to offer you an
interview at this time. However, I have put you on our 'waitlist" and as
interview spots open up, and they usually do in January, I will be looking
back on the waitlist.

Hopefully by us telling you now, you can better arrange for those interviews
already secured and not be in limbo waiting to hear from us.

We are honored that you have chosen to apply to us and we wish you the best."

does that mean i should go ahead and write them off? because if you do get an interview from the waitlist, are you essentially interviewing for a spot low down on their match list? or would it still be worthwhile to go if the offer arises? and did they actually send any true rejections?

Do you really want to go? If you would rank them 1-5 then its worth going, if you won't rank them until your bottom 5 then I wouldn't go unless its convient

i think my concern is that even if i ranked them 1, they would rank me 162 just by virtue of coming off the waitlist. i'm wondering if that concern has any validity or if the waitlist kiddos are on even ground with everyone else they interview after the visit is done.
