Hey Guys,

I really need some input on this, I interviewed on Friday (10/21/11) at EVMS and called today Tues (10/25/11) to ask about dates the committee members meet to discuss our case, she just asked my amcas number and said that I was wait listed top third, I thought my interview went really well but I was naive to rely on that. My interviewer did give me his card and told me to email him if i have questions. Should I email him or the associate dean of the school? I just didn't know they decided this fast. any input would be much appreciated.

I would wait for an actual decision and then just accept it. A lot of people have stellar interviews and get rejected, or vice versa, have bad interviews and are accepted. Are you implying that the admissions committee made a mistake with your application?

Contact the dean. Show your interest to the school. Dean will keep that in mind later when they start taking applicants off the wait list. It's better than nothing

no, Im not implying that they made an error, I'm just surprised that decision was made so fast, just hoping it'll change soon enough. Tired of getting wait listed every where. I just don't know if I should just directly email the interviewer and ask his advice.

Am I the only one who thinks that being waitlisted in the top third is really good and will almost certainly lead to an acceptance?

That being said, I have no idea what EVMS's typical waitlist movement is

I guess if i had rephrase my question, does every student get wait listed at some point before a decision is made or are there acceptances, it just seems weird to be wait listed so fast (interviewed one day and wait listed the next), most schools create the wait list in march or so. I approximated how many people might have been accepted already. during my interview there were about 10 people. so if they have two interview dates in one week then since the start of september until now they might have accepted roughly 80 people out of 300 already. so I don't really like my chances if Im wait listed this fast. I didn't get an official status but called and asked myself, so I'm hoping I'll be waitlisted now and be accepted when they send out there official decision. heheh im just getting my hopes up as always. Sorry to bother you guys with this none sense.

There's really nothing you can do until you get your official acceptance, in my opinion.

Some schools meet right after the interview to discuss applicants so I don't think it's weird that it's so fast. I have a feeling when your interviewer gave you his card he meant for you to contact him with questions about the school. I would not contact him about being waitlisted if I were you. Send a letter of interest to the dean if you have to do something, but don't go around asking what went wrong. It's likely that nothing went wrong, you are a great applicant but not at the top of their list.

Time to look at waitlist kittehs I guess

Contact the dean. Show your interest to the school. Dean will remember your name as the annoying/neurotic person who called two days after an interview and then sent him an email that same week. That will factor in when they choose who to take off the wait list.

It's only October. You've arguably done too much already. For now, it's better to do nothing more.
Fixed it for you
