I am currently waitlisted from the previous application cycle, and am really confused about what I should be doing at this point. I've already submit a reapplication, and I don't know if I should have applied for a formal post-bac program or to just take more classes as a non-degree student in the fall. As of now, I have been studying for the DAT for a month but haven't registered for a date, when should I register? I want to take it in a month, but I don't even know if I should be retaking.

My stats are:

19AA/19TS/21PA (but low qr and ochem, 16 and 17)

3.38 oGPA, 3.21 sGPA

I wouldn't retake if I were you. I think what got you waitlisted is your so so GPA. How many schools did you apply to? You should definitely get some interviews this cycle. Apply to at least 10 schools.

In my opinion, I would retake if you know you can do better 🙂 And I think you can. Ochem and QR can be improved with study and practice. That would bring up your AA and TS, and improve your application. I think schools also want to see what you have improved with your application since last year and retaking your DAT is one of the easier ones to check off on the checklist. Good luck! 🙂

I don't know what your situation is or how strong you're with standardized tests. If you could do better, definitely retake. While 19 is not bad, it's pretty average so it won't compensate for your below-average GPA. Also, a 17 in oChem might be below the cutoff for some schools. Good luck and let us know how your retake goes!🙂

Thanks, so far I've selected 9 but I'm still deciding which other ones to add. Last time I applied to 15 but for this time I eliminated the schools that don't accept many OOS. I wanted to add Boston to the list, but I didn't take calculus :/

Thanks! I feel that I can definitely prepare better this time, but I want to score above 21AA to offset the GPA. I'm averaging 18AA on Kaplan practice tests though :/ But when I took those tests last time, I averaged 16 on the same ones so I guess it's a start!

Thanks! I've gone through all of chad's videos and up to ch 10 in cliffs so far. I've just been doing this for a month since I didn't want to waste time in case I wanted to retake. I just don't know when I should go through and pay $360 for it and schedule though, I also didn't write a future test in AADSAS since I wasn't entirely sure yet

Did you use chad's videos the first time you took the DAT?

Im curious since I heard it is a guarantee that you will get at least a 19 on GC and OC with his vids.

Yup, I did use Chad's last time (not for QR though). I think it was more about not being as focused the previous time, and also not having enough practice. There's a reason I went with Chad again though, his videos are awesome and going through a second time, I learned a lot that I probably didn't the first time

Do you guys think I should have registered for DAT by now if I want to take it in one month

For your test site of choice, definitely. You should probably check the prometric testing center if they have open slots in a month.. This is after you got the go ahead from the adea to register for the exam..

Yeah I'd think it be better to register early. You can always push to a later if you are not comfortable. And you can easily bring that TS and AA up! O chem just requires a lot practice-and besides they won't test you on some obscure reaction. And for math I don't know what to say because I got a 17 myself haha.

But I hope you get of the wait list man.

what school wailisted you?

Thanks! I really hope so too, this wait is killing me 🙁

I seem to be on the same boat with user122 (waitlisted, similar stats). I just submitted my reapplication today, but only designated 1 instate school (VCU).
Can I add more schools later after I get my new DAT score, or should I add the rest of the schools now? In terms of competitiveness would it be too late to designate most of the schools in July/early August?

I also need some help with choosing which schools to apply this time around. Here is my current tentative list of schools. What are your thoughts on my chances? Any suggestions of schools to add/remove will also be appreciated! (My stats: 3.36 oGPA, 3.24 sGPA, 19/19/19 DAT)
