Waitlisted at MSUCOM?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It all depends on if you were guaranteed the acceptance for next year. Those people are rated the highest on the list. Also, don't worry too much about stats. That is not all it. I think they are really seeking well rounded applicants: good stats, volunteering, research, clinical experience, leadership experience, etc. At this point if you are on the waitlist, I don't think it has much to do with stats. If you are on the list, they are interested and think that you may have what it takes, but you may have just applied a little later (my situation). They are looking for people that will not only make excellent physicians, but people that will make up a diverse an interesting class. Mostly everyones stats are good if not excellent. I love that helps. God luck.

did anyone apply to both the MSUCOM and MSUCHM?? I applied to both, and got accepted into MSUCOM in November without an interview. As soon as I put in my deposit, I got rejected from CHM. I know they have the same classes and such...but I didn't know if that was exactly what happened.

Were you in the 'top 1/3' of the waitlist - those guaranteed acceptance for next year in the waitlist email?

Or in the 'bottom 2/3' of the waitlist - those who were told to schedule a reapplication counseling appointment if not pulled off by 5/15?

The rough top 1/3 and bottom 2/3 numbers come straight from Kathy Schafer, Director of Admissions from the 'visit day'.

Yea I have guaranteed acceptance for next year. I just don't really want to take a year off if I can avoid it. Yes I did apply late, and then on top of that the cover sheet for one of my LOR was misplaced so it took even longer. Thanks guys for all your input, I'm just really sick of waiting.

Without knowing for sure, I would say you're in pretty good shape to have a shot for this year. Since you did apply late and had some LOR issues, the class was probably already picked. Your scores are solid though... Keep your fingers crossed.

WOW I actually got accepted today. Good luck to all of those still waiting!!

Congrats Showtime! If you don't mind me asking, were you in the group of people who received guaranteed acceptances for 2008?

Yea Colbert I had auto into 2008. My stats are posted above I think so you can get maybe an idea of where you are. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

im waiting too! can you please tell me how they are notifying you that you are in? im staring at my phone 24-7, cant sleep at night, and checking my emails like 300 times a day!!! this is so hard! im really worried that finding a place to live in would be difficult given that it is so last minute. also, have all of you on the waitlist filed for financial aid and heard something? i still havent heard anything! IM GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just want to KNOW! :scared: 😱 😕

They called my home phone and left a message. Why they didn't call my cell I don't know, I'm pretty sure i put it on the contact thing. They also sent me an email informing me that they left a message at home as well as a number to call. So i probably didn't call them until 2 hours or so later. I'm sure they give you some time to contact them, it's not like "he didn't answer to screw him!" Just relax and keep your fingers crossed:luck:

Does anyone know if they usually take some from wait list but who aren't guaranteed acceptance and if so how many usually??? I am seriously stressing because I owe another school money soon but really want to go to msu

I gave up my spot at MSUCOM. Wayne here I come !!! Good Luck to every one.

So for those of you who are still waiting, have you started to explore other options for the upcoming year? Especially those who got guaranteed for next year? I would like to plan a whole lot of things in the next year but still waiting on pins and needles, hoping to start medical school in about 6 weeks! What to do; book a trip overseas, or get my head together for Anatomy... I wish they would just let us know.

screw it, I'm booking flights to Peru and Egypt...😉

Does MSUCOM waitlist people if they apply early... I know a lot of waitlisters apply late, but im just wondering if they waitlist early in the app cycle...

Yeah, I think they wait list throughout the process. I applied relatively early (mid summer) and got waitlisted long after. Like most schools, they sit on your application for an eternity.

They are probably getting pretty close to wrapping up the whole admissions thing... We start class in three weeks, so I would assume the class is almost all set... Good luck to every one waiting!

i sure hope that they are not all set with the class and that i will get a phone call in the next 3 weeks! i would like to start this year. just curious who else is waiting on the waitlist for this years starting class, with a guaranteed spot for 2008? 🙄

I'm still waiting on this year, but guaranteed for next year. Not holding my breath anymore, I'm planning adventures for my year off. Its a great opportunity after the pre-med intensity, cuz we'll still be employed as doctors for like 35 years. One more year will be of small consequence to me...
